Grow-NY Winner Candidus Takes Greenhouse Grower Gold
Candidus, a startup creating adaptive lighting solutions for greenhouse farmers, was recognized by Cultivate’21 as Greenhouse Grower’s Technology of the Year. Cultivate’21, a conference for those in the horticulture industry, annually presents the Greenhouse Grower Medal of Excellence Award winners. According to Greenhouse Grower, Candidus’ award “recognizes new technology that has the potential to have a lasting impact on greenhouse production.” Candidus’ unique cost-effectively technology, which monitors sunlight and automatically adjusts supplemental lighting to ensure crops efficiently receive the correct amount of light each day, certainly fits the bill.
After winning $250,000 at the 2020 Grow-NY Virtual Summit, Candidus’ success has only continued to grow. The company is gaining recognition as they work to implement their efficient technology in greenhouses nationwide.
“Our goal is to help growers become more efficient, and it’s a privilege to be able to work with these commercial growers, learn from them, and help the industry become more energy efficient,” CEO Erico Mattos said to Greenhouse Grower.
