Grow-NY, A Food and Farm Competition, Coming to Syracuse (Live or Virtually)
Grow-NY, a competition that will award $3 million to promising food and agricultural start-up businesses, will be coming to Syracuse this fall.
What’s unknown is whether it will be a live two-day event at the Oncenter, or a virtual, remote-only production due to the coronavirus.
This is the second year for the Grow-NY contest, which is intended to highlight innovations by food and farm businesses and promote a cluster of related companies in the Central New York, Finger Lakes and Southern Tier regions.
Last year, a Syracuse-based company, Dropcopter, won won a $500,000 second-place award for its business of using drones to pollinate fruit orchards. The first-place winner was RealEats America, a meal subscription service based in Geneva, which won the $1 million grand prize.
